"Please take one of the Pokemon from the table!" These words came from my role model. The man who taught me everything that I would need in my future. The man's name is Professor Palm. "You three will need a starter to go up against the 13 other pupils of mine," Palm said, "Dan! Why don't you pick first?"
"Okay!" Dan answered. Dan Birch was the hyper active, impatient kid of us three. "I choose....Squirtle!" Dan shouted. Dan picked up a spherical object off the table. The object was called a Pokeball. It was used to catch Pokemon to use as a partner in battles, known as Pokemon Battles. Pretty simple.
"Paul. You're up next," Palm said, after Dan went back to his chair.
"Y-yes sir," Paul responded. Paul Elm was the youngest of us three. He adjusted his glasses and went over to the table. "I c-chose Bulbasaur," Paul grabbed the Pokeball and headed back to his chair.
Palm looked at me, "Your last, Sam." I picked up the last remaining Pokeball. "Now! Before you guys leave on your journey there are two more things," Palm told us, "First of all, I give you three these." Palm held out his hand showing many Pokeballs and a rectangular item. We took the strange item and the Pokeballs. "Of course those are Pokeballs, but the other thing your holding is a special item. I invented it myself! It's called the Pokedex! You use it to see the data of a Pokemon you see," Palm said. I looked at the Pokedex in amazement. An item to see data of Pokemon! It looked so amazing! "Finally," Palm began again, "You three will have a Pokemon Battle! Dan! Samuel! You guys go first. Whoever wins will face Paul."
Dan and I walked to the Pokemon Battle Field, located in Palm's lab. I took my Pokeball with the Pokemon in it and threw it to the field. Dan did the same. Dan's Pokemon came out first. It was a small, blue, turtle-like Pokemon. I opened my Pokedex and looked up its data. "Squirtle the Tiny Turtle Pokemon. Shoots water at prey while in the water. Withdraws into its shell when in danger," the Pokedex said when I scanned Squirtle.
My Pokemon came out right after. It was an orange, lizard creature. A ball of fire came out from the end of its tail. I looked its data up in the Pokedex, also, "Charmander the Lizard Pokemon. The flame at the tip of its tail makes a sound as it burns. You can only hear it in quiet places." The Pokedex also showed Charmander's moves, but I had already had them memorized from research. At level 5, the level all three starters are at, Charmanders knows Scratch and Growl.
"Charmander! Use Scratch!" I called. Suddenly, Charmander's claws got sharper, as it ran up to Squirtle and scratched it. Squirtle was weakened!
"Fine! Squirtle use...," Dan began. He opened his Pokedex to see Squirtle's moves. "Okay!" Dan grinned, "Use Tackle!" Squirtle lunged its head at Charmander. Charmander leaped out of the way, making Squirtle slam its head against the wall. Squirtle fell down! Fainted! "Crap!" Dan said.
"Squirtle is unable to battle! Charmander and Sam win the match!," Palm called. I won my first Pokemon battle! Just then, a light flashed on my Pokedex. I looked at it, to see a box. The box read, "Charmander has leveled up!" "Good job, Sam," Palm grinned, "Paul! It's your turn to face Samuel!"
Paul got up and threw down his Pokeball. A small, green creature came out. A bulb rested on its back. I scanned it with my Pokedex, "Bulbasaur the Seed Pokemon. It can go for days without eating a single morsel. In the bulb on its back, it stores energy." Bulbasaur's red eyes glared at me and Charmander.
"Bulbasaur, use Tackle!" Paul quietly said. Just like Squirtle did, Bulbasaur used his Tackle. This time it slammed into Charmander sending him flying across the room. Charmander's health went to red in a couple of minutes. The match was over. I knew I was going to lose. At least, that's what I thought until Charmander did the most surprising thing. No one in the room expected it! A turquiose ball started forming inside Charmander's mouth. It shot out, bursting as it hit Bulbasaur. I didn't notice when it before! Charmander don't normally know the move at level 5! It was Dragon Pulse! Bulbasaur fell to the ground, fainted.
"Charmander and Samuel win, again!" Palm cheered.
     "G-good job," Paul studdered.
"That was amazing," Dan howled, "All three of us! Lets go on an adventure together!"
"S-sure," Paul seemed happy about it.
"Nah," I said. Both Paul and Dan had a surprised look on their faces. "I want to go on my own," I declared.
Dan smiled, "Okay! Come on, Paul! Lets go!" Paul and Dan left the lab. I packed up, healed Charmander and headed out myself. I looked at Pallet Town one more time. I was on Route 1 now, about to start my journey. I looked at my Pokedex. I examined the trainer card. The words of my name gleamed in the sun.
"Pokemon Trainer, Samuel Oak," I muttered. I put my Pokedex in my backpack and left Pallet Town, off to face the many challeges ahead.

It's a good story, I'm glad I read it. But it's a real dislike when a reader sees nothing but a wall of text. Just a small thing to critique about. Other than that I like it.
